Biomass Research Facility in Bonding Bill
The Minnesota legislature has funded the biomass research and demonstration facility in the 2005 bonding bill. The biomass plant will also be used to explore the gasification technology in converting plant based fuel stocks into energy in the form of synthetic gas that is intended to replace the use of fossil fuels such as natural gas. Local fuel stocks being considered are corn stover and other agricultural-based plant materials produced in the region. More information | | | |
Wind-to-Hydrogen
A wind-to-hydrogen demonstration system is being developed in partnership with Xcel Energy and other Minnesota stakeholders. The demonstration and research is designed to propel Minnesota into the hydrogen economy and to establish the state as a national and world leader in this growing industry. This research includes storing wind energy storage, using wind energy to produce anhydrous ammonia fertilizer, and hybrid hydrogen systems. More information | | | |
